Frequently Asked Questions
OUR FAQ’s
Do we have to book? How do we book?
Yes! We require bookings to be made for all visits.
Booking is easy! For parties of up to 8 people - use our online booking system. For larger parties, please give us a call during our opening hours at 0141 243 2823, or send us an email at info@thecraftpottery.com and we'll get back as soon as we possibly can.
We're also quite responsive on Instagram DM if that's your bag!
How much does it cost?
Our cheapest item is £4 (small trinket) and our most expensive item is £40 (large, serving platter), with most items falling between £10 and £20. Everyone who paints will also pay a studio fee of £5, which covers unlimited pottery painting colours, 2 hours of painting time, and all glazing and firing costs.
How long does it take to paint/create?
You will be given a 2-hour slot, which can be extended to 3hr for £5 extra per person, depending on availability when booking.
If you don't finish your items in your slot or would rather work on a design at your leisure, we can make up a wee take-home kit for you to complete your masterpiece!
How long will it take until the pieces are ready for collection?
In most cases, pieces will be ready for pick-up about 7-10 days after painting. When pieces are fired, wrapped, and ready for collection, we will get in touch via text message to let you know. In some circumstances (kiln issues, etc.), it could take a little longer, but you can always contact us for updates on your pieces if you have waited longer than 10 days.
We aren't from Glasgow. can you mail our pieces to us?
Due to the delicate and one-of-a-kind nature of the pieces, we are unable to send anything in the mail.
Unfortunately, we have had devastating situations due to the poor handling of parcels on their way home, and we will not take this responsibility on again, no matter the circumstance.
We suggest asking a friend or family member in the area to pick them up and send them on if there is absolutely no way for you to get back to the shop before you head home.
We're going on holiday. How long do you keep items for?
We will hold pieces for 4 weeks after initial contact for pick-up. We will then contact you, giving you a final 1-week notice period.
If, for some reason, you require us to hold onto your item for longer than this, just let us know when you are paying, and we will attach a note to the bag and keep it safe.
After this, we will donate all pieces to charity, as we have very limited space in the shop to hold forgotten items.
Can I buy a Gift Voucher
Yes! We provide vouchers of any amount, and there are two options for purchase.
You can purchase one on our website. You can also pop into the studio and pay by cash/card, and we’ll give you a ceramic voucher.
To purchase clay-based pottery lesson vouchers, head directly to our sister studio's website, and you can find them there.
Can I pay by card?
Yes, we accept all major credit/debit cards, including American Express. There is a cash machine about a 5-minute walk away if you prefer to get cash out beforehand. We no longer use paper receipts, but will text or email a copy to you at the time of sale.
Do you have coffee or tea?
We do not sell any food or drink on the premises. There is a coffee shop directly adjacent to our shop that is open on weekdays, with many others a short walk away on the weekends.
We have a BYOB policy with no corkage fee. This means you are free to bring in any food* or drink you wish (including alcohol), even for private parties.
We provide standard paper cups and a bottle opener for your use. Please bring anything you require outside of this!
I'm no artist... can you help me create/paint?
We're here to help you let out some creative energy! That being said, we are also a busy shop and our staff are on hand to help set customers up, make sure the shop is clean and stocked, fill the kilns, and wrap up pottery. We advise you to have a quick online browse for some ideas before you come. Check out our Pinterest page, online gallery or Instagram for some painting inspiration!
All staff are friendly and knowledgeable about all things design-related. Definitely ask us for colour selection advice, or the best way to fix a mistake; however, we won't be able to sit and paint with you all afternoon.
Do you have Wheelchair Access?
Our front door is able to accommodate all chair widths, so our painting rooms are accessible.
We have a downstairs accessible toilet, though our sister studio's wheel-throwing and hand-building studios are up multiple flights of stairs.
For more information, head to our accessibility information page.
Age requirement
Painting is open to all ages!
Our studio has a BYOB policy, which means Thursday/Friday evenings and Saturdays can have more of a grown-up vibe as we are a popular choice for Hen-Do's.
Our weekdays and Sundays are much more family-friendly!
Please note: We no longer host children's parties in our painting studio.
Our sister studio hosts children's pottery lesson parties in our upstairs, clay-based studio for ages 7+.
Please contact admin@thecraftpotterystudio.com for more information.
