Accessibility information
We're passionate about creating a fun and inclusive space. Always reach out with any accessibility questions before booking, and we'll do our absolute best to accommodate everyone in your party.
Wheelchair Access
Our venue is ground floor, with a front door that accommodates all wheelchair widths. Our painting /party room is fully accessible for mobility needs.
We have a ground floor gender neutral wheelchair accessible toilet.
Please let us know in advance if you’re attending with a wheelchair or mobility scooter, and we will allocate an appropriate table that is easy to maneuver.
–––
Our Sister Studio (The Craft Pottery Studio) has pottery lessons (wheel throwing or hand-building), rooms are located on the first floor of the Axiom building, and are unfortunately not accessible for people with mobility needs, with no lift and two large staircases.
To discuss the possibility of lessons to cater to your needs, please contact admin@thecraftpotterystudio.com.
Age Requirements
We don’t have strict age requirements, but our business does cater more to adult audiences on Thursday and Friday evenings, and all day Saturday.
Large groups, such as hen parties, work nights, and adult birthdays, tend to visit during these times. We run a BYOB policy in our space, so alcohol may be present. Due to this, it can get loud. We also play all genres of music.
Sundays and weekdays tend to be more family-friendly, but please contact us if you are unsure when is best to book.
Baby Facilities
We are a safe space for breastfeeding a child, and we can offer a seat in our reception if you would prefer a more private area.
We are the biggest pottery painting studio in Scotland, but we are a compact space, so let us know in advance if you plan to bring a pram(s) and we will try to allocate appropriate space.
We have baby changing facilities in our accessible ground floor toilet.
We have one high chair which can be reserved during your session - please let us know in advance.
Sensory Difficulties / Access Needs
Our painting room gets quite noisy, specifically at weekends and evenings.
If you struggle with loud spaces, we recommend booking one of our three outdoor tables.
Other options include:
1. Choosing to book for a quieter time, we are happy to discuss when these fall week to week.
2. Ordering a takeaway kit so you can enjoy pottery painting in a place you feel totally comfortable.
The bisque (unfired) pottery can also have a strange feel (it is quite dry and rough), and our paint can have a chalky feel - if you struggle with these textures, we have latex-free, vinyl gloves you can wear during painting.
Painting can be messy, but we have plastic aprons for you to use, and the paint washes out of clothes very easily.
Please get in touch with beth@thecraftpottery.com if you still have questions, and we can do our best to help you..
